Three religious cultures without leaving the Aragonese Pyrenees

Dag Shang Kagyu Buddhist Temple

We can assure you that when you show your friends the photos of this temple they will not believe that you have been in the Pyrenees … And is that Dag Shang Kagyu is a piece of Tibet in the province of Huesca, specifically in the town of Panillo. It was founded in 1984 and it is home to lamas and followers of this religion. It has a temple, 108 stupas, a large prayer mill and a candle house. You can visit it on your own or with a guide.

Torreciudad

The Shrine of Torreciudad is the most important spiritual center of Opus Dei and yes, it is located in our territory. Its promoter was the founder of Opus Dei himself, José María de Escrivá, and in addition to offering spectacular views, it is an architectural work very different from anything you have seen so far. In addition, linked to the sanctuary, there are dozens of myths and legends.

The Jewish past of Sobrarbe

Did you know that of the non-European visitors to Aínsa, Israeli tourists are at the top of the list? There is a reason. In 2015, a mikvah, an ancient structure that served more than 500 years ago for Jewish bathing rituals, was discovered in the basement of a house in Aínsa. This, together with the already known Aljama de Monclús (partially submerged under the Mediano swamp), shows us the importance of the Jewish culture centuries ago. Nowadays it is worth mentioning that Aínsa has an important number of tourists coming from Israel.
